Sunnyside

Sunnyside sits at the geographic centre of South Surrey, roughly bounded by 32 Avenue to the north, 152 Street to the west, 24 Avenue to the south, and 160 Street to the east. It is anchored by Sunnyside Park and the Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest — two of the city's most-used green spaces.

The neighbourhood is a classic South Surrey mix: older 1970s–1990s single-family streets, mature landscaping, and a small commercial node at 152 Street and 24 Avenue, with Semiahmoo Mall and Grandview Corners a short drive in either direction.

Sunnyside developed steadily from the 1970s onward as Surrey's suburbanization pushed south from Newton and White Rock. Sunnyside Park was assembled from former farmland and dedicated to public use in stages, opening as a full sports and community park through the 1980s. The adjacent Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest was formally protected in 1988, preserving 56 hectares of second-growth Douglas-fir at the neighbourhood's core.
