South Surrey

Pacific Douglas

Modern, master-planned, close to the border.

Overview

About Pacific Douglas

Pacific Douglas is the southernmost residential neighbourhood in Surrey, bounded by the US border to the south, 16 Avenue to the north, Highway 99 to the west, and 176 Street to the east. It is one of Surrey's most systematically master-planned areas, built out under the Pacific Douglas Neighbourhood Concept Plan adopted in the mid-2000s.

Housing stock is almost entirely post-2005, with a strong mix of single-family streets, townhome enclaves, and a small commercial node at 8 Avenue and 168 Street. Peace Arch Provincial Park and Semiahmoo First Nation lands sit immediately to the south.

Heritage

History

Once agricultural land and second-growth forest at the extreme south end of Surrey, Pacific Douglas was formally opened for development when the City of Surrey adopted the Pacific Douglas Neighbourhood Concept Plan in 2005. Servicing, roads, parks, and schools have rolled out in staged sub-areas since, with the majority of homes built between 2010 and 2022. The community is one of the newest in South Surrey, still filling in a small number of remaining parcels.
