About Crescent Beach
Crescent Beach is a low-lying seaside village on the shore of Boundary Bay, at the western foot of the South Surrey uplands. Sugar Road, Beecher Street, and McBride Avenue form the small commercial core, minutes from the pier, the marina, and Blackie Spit.
The community is small, walkable end to end, and defined by its cottage-scale homes, birding trails, and open ocean views across Mud Bay. Higher-density housing is limited to a few condominium pockets; most of the village remains detached homes on modest lots.
History
Crescent Beach began as a summer resort in the 1900s, reached by the BC Electric interurban railway from New Westminster. Cottages, hotels, and a wooden pier drew Vancouver families each summer, and the community's Crescent Beach Swimming Club — one of the oldest outdoor pools in the region — opened in 1928. When the interurban line closed in 1950, the cottages gradually converted to year-round homes and the village settled into the quiet, tightly held neighbourhood it is today.
